YOUR FEARS ARE VALID
What if someone told you your fears are valid. All our lives we have been told we should not be scared. That it would only cause destruction but what if I told you that you are human.
I have not lived for so long but I will tell you for one thing that most of our fears do not just appear out of the blue. They are an accumulation of our past, the way we have seen things progress, what we have seen not work, places we have been, and things others have told us.
It is not your fault. You were not born with those fears. Out of being human you came to experience events that caused your fear.
I am someone who is scared of heights. I hate being anywhere a bit too high above ground level. I am not scared of climbing the staircase, oh no, but when it becomes too high, I get scared. That is a particular example of fear. I was not born with the fear of heights. I either got this fear from watching too much Nollywood where someone falls from a tall building or I created an illusion in my head that I would fall if I kept going higher.
I will not allow anyone to call my fear invalid because it is something I genuinely experience. I know you might be wondering if I am saying that we should continue living in fear. Oh no, far from that.
Isaiah 41 verse 10 says
Fear thou not for I am with thee. Be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. Yea I will help thee. Yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
From this scripture God is saying do not be scared, not because fear will not come. God is not trying to invalidate our fears, but He is saying that when the thought of fear comes, do not dwell on it. Remember that fear is not from Him.
I for one get scared many times, especially about the future. Most times we do not know what will happen next and that is normal. We are not God. We are not meant to know everything. I see life as a game sometimes. We do not know the outcome and that is why we have God to guide us through life.
Have you ever heard the phrase face your fears. If the normal thing was to invalidate fear and behave as though it did not exist, how then would we face our fears.
So once again I am here to remind you that you are human. You have feelings, thought processes, and emotions. Fear will come but do not dwell on it. Face it. It was not there from the beginning and it should not remain.
Stay strong. Continue to grow. And yes I am rooting for you.
